| citkeane: Good spot and fixed. Everyone else interested: I'd suggest checking out The Guardian's top 100 footballers list at bit.ly/RFTVbe (it's being rolled out over a few days and they're currently up to 11). I don't agree with all of their choices of course. But unlike an award like the Ballon d'Or, which is voted on by a huge group, The Guardian's list was voted on by 11 journalists, some of whom like Jonathan Wilson and Michael Cox are rabid in the way they watch soccer that's a little off the beaten path—both in terms of who they watch and how they watch it. That makes their list much more interesting to me and not AS based on reputation or just who's playing for the biggest clubs. This strikes at the core of Balotelli over, say, Cavani as FlyingBarney put it—Balotelli gets as much attention as any player in the world and while Cavani is not exactly obscure there simply isn't much reason for the captain of, say, South Africa to watch Napoli play. Hence, Balo gets votes from people voting who they hear about the most and Cavani doesn't. |
