because parents used to beat their children back in the day if they showed any hint of the devil, ie left handedness

Until the mid 20th century, all kids were forced to right with their right hand, even if they were left-handed. It happened to my grandfather, which resulted in his writing being basically impossible to read.

I got all of them except Garfield. What was really weird was that I got the rest really quickly, almost right away, without ever learning which were lefties. Part of it, I guess, was I realized it was in order, but it was still kind of strange.

I got the most recent six quickly because people used to be almost all righthanded, but after a while I just started guessing all the presidents in order. There shouldn't be time to do that.
