	@nearlyextinct: (sorry to hear about your condition) I clicked around the sources for these two quizzes. The other one links to Wikipedia as the source, and Wikipedia's source for Spain's (lower) record temp is a document from "Oficina Nacional de Estadísticas", which says that the records it uses for the document begin in the year 1900. Meanwhile Spain's record temp according to this quiz occurred in 1884, which is backed up by this quiz's source... what can you do put pull this quiz? (joke) Update: 'skizzo' above says the Spanish temp is incorrect and likely there is good reason for excluding old temp measurements. That would mean that Spain should be replaced by Greece according to the Wikipedia article used as the source of the other quiz...

	Interesting that the most recent hottest temperature recorded in any one continent occurred about 70 years ago. Global warming? Bah! It was hotter back in the day! (Just kidding; we are probably experiencing some sort of global warming today)

	I have the quiz 5 stars as I really enjoyed it and it was a good idea. I do think however that you should make clear in the title that you are naming the modern day countries that these places are part of now.

	Although the Death Valley record was set nearly a century ago, extremely high temperatures that approach that number frequently occur. Something about that place just makes it HOT HOT HOT.

	@dumbgai: probably the "something" that makes Death Valley a very hot place is its negative elevation (86 m or 282 ft below sea level). Temperature decreases with altitude, therefore usually the Death Valley would be a little hotter than other hot places in, say, Nevada or Arizona, because that other places are some hundred meters above sea level.

	One time I was at one of these locations (Death Valley) and it was 125 degrees, hotter than anything ever recorded in South America or Europe.

	I was in Abu Dhabi, UAE in April 2004 and we recorded temperatures of 135° regularly. I find it hard to belive that what is now Israel from 70 years ago was hotter that what is now UAE. I wonder how they measured those temperatures back in the day compared to how they're measured today. The methods and instrumentation have surely changed over 70-131 years.

	Evil44: They'd have measured them with screened max/min thermometers (invented 230 years ago) positioned six feet off the ground, just like today. The only difference is that some poor soul would've been out there to read it, rather than an automated system transmitting temperatures to a data file. Tirat Tsvi is like Death Valley, but more so - over 200m below sea level. This would add over 2C to an equivalent sea-level temperature.
