	how sad... out of 12 countries, 3 are in north africa, 3 are islands, and the rest are in south and southwest africa. says a lot about west africa, central africa and east africa.

	Personally I would have preferred some more time, I think it's better to have some time to actually think and not just guess every country there is.

	Nice quiz! 2 minutes seems good to me -- gives you time to think, but any more and you can basically name all the countries in Africa.

	@t87, this seems skewed. Nigeria and Egypt, two of the richest and most developed countries in Africa, are absent from the list. The fact that the population of most of these countries is so small allows them to have GDPs higher than the more economically developed countries. In short, don't draw too many conclusions.

	Everyone remember that this list is per capita not the output of the whole country. The countries that you would expect such as Nigeria and Egypt would be on this list of it were just GDP (nominal) instead of per capita.

	This was hard! Any per capita stats are always harder to work out. Good quiz! I think more time would be good though. Perhaps another minute.

	Almost all of them are based on natural resource exstraction rather than overall development.

	hollabackitsobi, Nigeria may have a large economy, but the majority of its population is incredibly poor. Egypt as well. This is a measure of how much GDP is earned on a yearly basis per capita, not the GDP of the entire country. Somebody from Botswana earns more than someone from Nigeria. Even though China has a larger GDP than Liechtenstein, Liechtenstein still has a higher GDP per capita.

	@hollabackitsobi: Quite the opposite actually. This is a far better measure of prosperity then overall economic output. This is how well people are making money, and to no surprise you;ll find that these countries also rank among the highest HDI ranks in Africa too. And, no small population alone doens't make for statistics like this at all. Tell that to Djibouti and Comoros.

	Zephos has got it. Guessing total GDP is primarily based on population (egypt, south africa). Where as, in this quiz you actually need to guess wealthy countries. Someone mentioned how they're all islands, in north africa, or south/southwest africa. To me, it seems the real common factor is how many of them are oil-producing nations.
