Minor issue: typo in symbol for iridium (should be Ir not It)
Feb 22nd, 2010 at 07:00 GMT
Great game, might just point out ununbium is a transition metal, it should not be just a bonus answer. Also Lanthanum and Actinium are sometimes concidered transition metals.

Aren't ununbium and copernicium the same thing?
Jan 11th, 2013 at 21:22 GMT
@Stersh No, ununbium was its placeholder name until it was officially discovered and got its IUPAC approved name in 2010.

Why are you giving us Lutetium and Lawrecium? They're not even transition metals.
Feb 5th, 2013 at 18:48 GMT
Zinc, Cadmium and Mercury are barely transition metals themselves, only just managing to "pull off" having a partially filled d block. Likewise with Scandium, which is very rarely d2, otherwise would be d0, and not a transition metal ion.

What's with Lutetium and Lawrencium showing up as soon as you click "Play Game"?
Feb 7th, 2013 at 22:56 GMT
The reason Lutetium and Lawrencium show up immediately is because there is some ambiguity regarding the placement of the Lanthanide and Actinide series. While some believe that Lanthanum and Actinium are transition metals, others believe that the cutoff occurs before the transition metals, and Lutetium and Lawrencium are the transitions. The maker of this quiz probably wanted to avoid any conflicts or complaints over which setup is correct.
