	The source provides a very wide percentage range for each country. You've taken the maximum for each, which isn't accurate at all. For instance, somewhere between 46% and 85% of people in the #1 country identify as atheist, agnostic, or non-believers in God. That's a pretty broad range, and if you were to take the minimums, you'd have a very different picture indeed. The one you said surprised you? Well, it's actually somewhere between 15% and 37%. 15% wouldn't even make the list. I like the idea of this quiz but I suggest you find better source data.

	It's funny- there seems to be a loose correlation between atheist nations and good nations, but then religious Ireland ranks 5, religious Austria is 14, religious US is 13, Greece is 25, Italy is 18, Brunei(!) is 30th. Meanwhile, the Czech Republic and Estonia aren't even on the list.

	france is 75 % catholic (not including protestants and other faiths), so i find it hard to believe 54% of them are atheists. your source is wildly inaccurate.

	seanob: Plenty of atheist catholics about. Many people identify with a religion without actually believing in it. What's your religion? "Christian". Do you believe in god? "Err, I dunno." It's stupid but it means there's no way to get a decent statistic for this sort of thing.

	I was raised Catholic and am an agnostic. I identify as both, so there's room for some overlap. And the Scandinavian countries are just awesome in general - high quality of life, high human development index, high income, not much religion.

	When I saw that Sweden was 85% atheist, I thought that number must include agnostics and non-religious, which it does. Those are NOT the same things as atheists.

	In general there is an inverse correlation between a country's level of religious belief, and its level of development (although of course exceptions exist, as with pretty much everything). Accurate statistics that use the same methodology will be difficult to obtain for individual countries.

	@bicyclerace - There is nothing intrinsically anti-religious about a left-wing (but not communist) approach to government. It can be argued that capitalism (i.e. dog-eat-dog) is intrinsically anti-religious. Incidentally, the people who left scandinavia left long before the establishment of social protections which you are describing as socialist.

	Education and Religion do not always go head to head. You can combine them in any way you want. For example, with creationism and evolution. Maybe the "seven days" are really eons, and just different stages of development. Often times, people only look onto the evidence to support no god if they are atheist or for a god if they are not. But I could say that God made evolution happen, and that is fully supported by the church and cannot be disproved by scientists. No scientific research disproves a God or higher being. You can disagree as much as you want, but there's always some line that science cannot explain and some line that religion can, and vice versa. For people who claim to be so "open and tolerant" (both Atheists and religious people) just ****ing let everyone believe what they want to believe and respect them for that. Dont get up in someone's grill because they disagree with you about something that doesnt need to affect you at all. They're personal beliefs.
