It's pretty sad in a way that nations' populations have to decline like this.

Good game - time a bit long. Even though I got 9/10, lots of that was just guessing random countries

Why are people leaving Japan?

Troncy, it's not people leaving Japan. It's the extremely low birth rate. Japan's birth rate is 7.87 births for every 1,000 people. Compare that to the death rate of 9.26 deaths for every 1,000 people, and you have a decreasing population.

I know that Japan and Europe have low birth rates (plus still-high deathrates in the Soviet Bloc), and that Swaziland's decrease is because of the AIDS epidemic. But I wonder why 3 and 6 are going to shrink?

Since it's estimated, please state that up front. Also, use the feature on the quiz creation site to change countrys to countries. I also wondered about 3 and 6.

Guyana is shrinking because of low birth rates and emigration - and this in a country which already has a low population density. Emigration seems to be the cause for Tonga as well.

I'm sure I saw stats about 30% of Zimbabwe's population leaving over a couple of years, combined with HIV-AIDS and a de facto civil war I'm surprised it's not there

Tonga has like 15 people, so if one family moves away, bam! 27% decrease. And Vatican City has a 0% birth rate (has anyone ever been born there?) and they seem to be doing just fine! :)
