Dusty Springfield? Rock? Really...

"Voodoo Child" didn't work for the last one. All of what we would call "popular music" in the 60s was considered rock - non-rock was pop-standards Frank Sinatra type stuff, jazz, country, classical, and maybe straight blues.

Hello johnlk, I guess you must have mistyped, because it's accepting 'voodoo child' in the last one. Thanks for playing my quiz!

Awesome quiz! I got 8 songs, up from 2 on the fifties quiz. And Surfin Bird is by the TRASHMEN, not thrashmen

Could you add the time column? It helps when going back to fill in specific songs

I almost got exactly only the top half...except for the Dylan...which I had to think for a moment because it reminds me so much of "Like a Rolling Stone" in its energy.

Great not to see the usual suspects from the 60's in the list.

Great songs on the list! Good job on the quiz. Also, nice job showing how the 60s music is much better and contained much more talented people than today's music does.

Great quiz! One thing I would suggest is adding time references for each song so you can go back to the ones you missed more easily. Also, the name of the Hendrix song here is actually "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)", not "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)". People often get that confused so definitely accept both Child and Chile.

Fun quiz for fans of 60s music! I love the mix of well-known and lesser-known songs. I need to add some of these to my iPod. :)

@sixsevenfiftysix Hello friend, thanks for the playing my quiz! The Jimi Hendrix song is not Voodoo Chile. Voodoo Chile is a 15-minute song also from the Electric Ladyland album, and a sort of inspiration to Voodoo Child. But you're right, there is some confusion, so the quizz will be accepting both from now on.

Fun quiz! Definitely more challenging than the 50s one, for me, but I still really enjoyed it. I liked some of the tracks that were slightly off the beaten path, though when it got way off the path (I'm looking at you, Frank Zappa) I missed a few LOL Perhaps a 70s edition, too? :-)

@Poos: Well, they were making some amazing music there back then, don't you agree? And I think the rock from that era was well represented here. At least, that was what I tried to do.

"My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama" is an inspired choice, but the song wasn't released on album until 1970.

If you look closely, you'll see She's a Rainbow, from the Rolling Stones. And I saved The Who for the seventies' edition, which you can play here: http://www.sporcle.com/games/Mad_Hatter/rock_70s

Well your taste in music seems to exclude a lot of my favourite sixties artists - if there's no room for soul, you should kick Dusty to the curb.

This isn't about my taste, or my favorites. I try to show the big picture of the music of the time, without focusing too much in this or that subgenre/music scene.

This quiz needs the Buffalo Springfield and The Who. Still have to agree with Rdude, 5 stars for Sister Ray, not to mention Volunteers, two of my favorites songs from the decade.

@ rats60: I choose not to repeat the bands/artists in more than one decade. That's why The Who is not here, but in the 70's.

Tough quiz. You chose some less well known ones for several acts -- "Moonlight Drive" and not "Light My Fire", "Born on the Bayou" and not "Proud Mary," "Volunteers" and not "Somebody to Love," "Positively Fourth Street" and "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" and not, well, lots of others. But none of them were unfair, just hard.

A lot of great tunes here (particularly "Shapes of Things") - plus the Doors.
