| I'm not sure what the format for these quizzes normally is, but it does not make any sense how you've done things here.
About half of these places are actual cities (Richmond, Virginia Beach, Charlottesville etc.) for which you've listed the population of the city. About half of the places on this list are unincorporated Census Designated Places (Reston, Burke, Dale Cit y etc.). It makes no sense to me to include arbitrary unincorporated census designations on the list. Why compare unincorporated Reston to incorporated Fredricksburg? Or for that matter why compare unincorporated Reston to incorporated Vienna? Just as many people live in "Vienna" as live in "Reston". Why does Vienna get penalized for being an actual city (town)? I'm guessing that if 56 thousand people live in the Reston CDP, the CDP includes some people who actually have Vienna mailing addresses.
The one "city" that really bothers me about this list is "Tuckahoe". I used to live in the Census Designated Place called Tuchakoe. Tuckahoe would have been at best my fifth guess for the name of the my Census Designated Place. There is no place called Tuckahoe. There are no Tuckahoe mailing addresses. If you tell someone in Richmond you live in "Tuckahoe" they will not know what you mean. This is different that "Reston": if you tell someone from Vienna you live in Reston it makes perfect sense.
If I recall correctly Tuckahoe was a plantation or farm in the 18th Century which was notable because it was right near where Jefferson was born. Accordingly there are a few things named "Tuckahoe" out in the West End near Goochland county (Tuckahoe Creek, Tuckahoe Creek Parkway, Tuckahoe YMCA). Under no standard should "Tuckahoe" count as a city.
Also, I agree with robbie_keane. |
