You should accept Bogota without the accent. And nobody has been to Stockholm?! Can that be true?

Wasn't FDR in Valletta? He was in the harbor certainly. I can't find confirmation that he was in the walled portion of the city. And then of course there's Washington...

pianoshootist: I didn't include Washington because I didn't consider it a place they visited.

I wonder if you should include capitals that were capitals at the time, but which are no longer capitals. For instance, I believe Bush visited Alma Ata, the former capital of Kazakhstan. It is also possible that one of the presidents, for example, visited Lagos, when it was the capital of Nigeria. Just a thought...

I am certain, come to think of it, that several presidents visited Bonn, when it was the capital of West Germany.

Hamburger: You are right on both accounts. I was including only current capitals. I will put that in the game note.

@Hamburger: yeah, at least J.F.K. was in Bonn, and I think Bush Sr., too. What astonishes me is that no pres ever went to Amsterdam and that Obama was the first (!) to go to Mexico city... I mean, come on: The US only has two neighbours!

Indeed very surprising that no president has gone to Amsterdam and Stockholm... Only 2 capitals in Europe they didn't visit...

Technically speaking, George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush had different middle names, so it's not "Bush Jr." and "Bush Sr."

What about Prishtina? Your source says Clinton visited, but maybe it doesn't count because at that time Prishtina was not the capital of a country?

Don't forget to specify that you only mean visits while they were president. Otherwise Pyongyang would be on there (Bill Clinton 2009).

Good quiz. Nixon visited both Beijing and Vienna. FDR went to Tehran in 1943 for one of the most important meetings in WW2.

You note that you aren't accepting things that aren't capitals anymore, but what about places that have gone the other way. You include Nixon for Minsk, when Minsk was definitely not a world capital at the time... is that just the only situation that this comes up or did other presidents visit places that weren't world capitals at the time but are now?

@ professor88 and @Sabarai: I think the reason nobody has visited Amsterdam is that all important institutions are in The Hague. The Dutch government and parliament, the residence of the queen, all foreign embassies, the International Court of Justice and many more are located in The Hague so that's where the presidents go.

I'd love to see a quiz of capitals none of these presidents have been to. Clearly, it can be figured out with the info from this quiz, but it would still be fun to try. Who would have thought none of them have been to Stockholm OR Amsterdam??

Remember it's only capitals, that doesn't mean they never visited the country. Bush Jr was in Gothenburg, Sweden. I'm pretty sure Hague, Netherlands also had a visit.

Obama is not the only one to go to Mexico City. Truman, Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, and Clinton have also been there. http://history.state.gov/departmenthistory/travels/president/mexico (Mexico, D.F. = Mexico City)

Well Johnson visited Amsterdam on november 8th, 1963. About 2,5 weeks before he became president. Maybe nice to add as extra info, like similar visits mentioned in the comments above.

I know I typed Tokyo and Zagreb, the latter twice, not sure why they didn't show up as being entered. I was shocked to see Obama is the only President to visit Mexico City???? All the Presidents except Ford and Carter visited Ottawa!!! None have been to Stockholm???? Need to do something about The Hague/Amsterdam. Not sure how I missed San Jose and Seoul. Definitely a good quiz.

Remember what a big deal it was when Nixon went to China? And now every President since Reagan has been to Beijing.
