Damn it... Pill Bugs can roll up (never even heard of them) whereas Woodlice cannot. At least I've learnt something.

Great quiz, MSUKent! Is there something that distinguishes that jawbreaker from a gumball?

Hej: Thanks. I thought the coloring separated them. Do they make gumball with that splattering look? I'll add gumball as alt.

In general, jawbreakers have that splatter pattern. I don't think I've ever seen it on a gumball. And in person, you definitely don't want to try to bite into a jawbreaker as you would a gumball :)

Perhaps accept sowbug for pillbug? They're interchangeable terms in my area.

i looked up pill bugs and they are officially a type of woodlouse but also a colloquial name for them so woodlouse should be accepted

Sopz: I'll add woodlouse but that's their larger family. I have many alts in here, including potato bug, roly poly, and armadillidiidae. Pill bugs are main characters in Pixar's "A Bug's Life" (the twins), so I though they'd be commonly know by that name.

@hahobigshot: It's pretty clear from the guy on the broom that it's a quidditch ball, but there are three different balls in quidditch and requiring the name of that particular one ups the challenge level a bit.

fair point. i figured someone with potter knowledge would shoot me down but that makes sense. i still dont get the point of the game if the only way to win is to get that one ball. what purpose do the others serve? im a star wars guy, the death star better be on the sequel!

@hahobigshot: It's not the only way to win, it just gives you so many points that the team that catches the Snitch usually wins. I believe in the beginning of Goblet of Fire there's a Quidditch match where one team catches the Snitch and loses.

It should be noted for the sake of extreme pickiness that the Earth is neither truly round nor circular. It is an oblate spheroid. Though I suppose that if a bagel counts...

I definitely kept trying to type in "doughnut" for "bagel"; until I looked closely at it I hadn't noticed the seeds and just assumed it was cinnamon raisin haha

I thought the whole quiz was really easy until I got to the last 2 -- not a HP fan so had no idea on the quiddich one, and the other i was convinced was some sort of mullosk still in the shell.... also for frisbee i thought it was one of those automatic chlorine dispensers for the pool cuz of the shadow, but i eventually got it

Oh Magic 8-Ball, what is the likelyhood of that jawbreaker picture being changed? I agree with runnrchic that it looks like a superball..... FAT CHANCE. Damn, I tried every iteration of bouncy ball I could for that thing and am appalled--APPALLED--that 68% of respondents knew what it was. You people need to shape-up your diets. Either that, or play with more super balls.

@EmYanks2001 You're close. Pill bugs are in fact land-dwelling crustaceans, not bugs of any sort.

Here's a pretty exhaustive list of names for this creature. I call them doodlebugs! http://www4.uwm.edu/FLL/linguistics/dialect/staticmaps/q_74.html
