Fantastic quiz, obviously a lot of work went into this! One small typo, though..."Nineteen Eight-" should read "Nineteen Eighty-".

Thanks, MrsSchiebel. Typo fixed.

Minor nitpick: 'A' Midsummer Night's Dream, not 'THE' Midsummer Night's dream

Tons of fun, and loved the entertaining lead-ins! Thanks.

Interestingly, the Joy of Sex is currently being guessed correctly by SIXTY-NINE percent of quiz takers.

it's "Island of the Blue Dolphin" not "Island of Blue Dolphins"

jonTK: I checked Wiki. They show the book's cover with DolphinS: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Island_of_the_Blue_Dolphins

"Island of _____ the dolphins" should be "Island of the ______ Dophins"

You are missing the first quote in 'Like Water for _____'. I misread that as Like 'Water for _____' and went for "Elephants". Fun quiz, though.
Jul 9th, 2012 at 17:35 GMT
Wow, amazing. Would have preferred not to have both "like water for elephants" and "water for elephants" though. Was afraid I'd lose time chuckling over the hints but no. Very amusing and a favorite.
Jul 11th, 2012 at 17:15 GMT
Uh, if you do have "Portnoy's Complaint," I'd really rather NOT hear about it in the comments.
Jul 15th, 2012 at 01:23 GMT
i always love these quizzes. you take something that has the potential to be pretty tedious and make it fun and clever. 5 globes

After all that work I'm in the 11% percentile. ;~; I suppose it doesn't help that I got the 'Z' one wrong.

A very entertaining quiz. I do havve one quibble, however; I really don't think yoou've given us enough time. I was clicking as fast as I could and I only managed to get 166 out of 226. I reckon an extra 5-10 minutes really wouldn't go amiss. Other than that, great work!

This is great I loved the commentary and all, but I'm afraid I have a Portnoy's Complaint: As Mugwin said, not enough time. The first time I tried it, I realized time was going by even if I skipped. Then I refreshed and figured I'd walk-through it by cheating and pausing to look up the ones I don't know so I can enjoy your commentary and have left whichever ones I'm supposed to have (since I noticed the commentary has a nice touch with that I'd enjoy it anyway), and even then I still struggled cramming it in the time. Though I'm almost certain that having to repeatedly SCROLL to get to any answers past the O's has a lot to do with that, but there's probably nothing you can do about that (if there is, that'd be great and may make all the difference), but adding more time would definitely make this enjoyable. Five more minutes seems perfect.

Brilliant idea for a quiz but due to the large number of answers, there was way too much scrolling involved.
Feb 9th, 2013 at 04:32 GMT
For "The Life and Adventures of Nicholas ______," I immediately looked for "Cage." I don't know why.
Feb 9th, 2013 at 05:36 GMT
Raise your hand if you didn't even scroll up to see what the question was when you got to the Ten, Nine, etc... countdown.
One little formatting issue I noticed...on the cover of the book, only the first word is capitalized in One fish two fish red fish blue fish. This quirk was fresh in my mind because I recently did this quiz:

I thought everything was going really well, I had almost 180 done, and then I saw I only had 13 seconds left on the clock. Time flies when you're having a desperate fight with your brain over whether pokey puppies are sassy or little.
Feb 9th, 2013 at 10:00 GMT
Brilliant quiz (even though I kept blanking and failed miserably). I noticed when on the results page that at this time of writing, this quiz had over 150 times the plays today of the next literature quiz. And it thoroughly deserves it!
Feb 9th, 2013 at 12:06 GMT
Good quiz, and I like how you can skip ones you don't know and come back to them later!
Feb 9th, 2013 at 12:33 GMT
I love the way you group some answers into theme and add some clever commentary so it's not just dry title-answer format. I thoroughly enjoyed this, and I'm not just saying that to "The ______ Battle Book" you up!
Feb 9th, 2013 at 13:18 GMT
When I saw 'Lord of the ____' I immediately thought RINGS!!!! Then realized it was Flies xD
Feb 9th, 2013 at 15:19 GMT
ran out of time! spent so much time scrolling! could they break this into two or three smaller quizzes?
Feb 9th, 2013 at 15:36 GMT
Way too much time scrolling. good quiz but not enough time.
Feb 9th, 2013 at 17:17 GMT
Tried not to miss any but thought "Water for Chocolate" was "Water for Elephants". Not bad at all. Just made the screen a tad smaller to minimize scrolling.

Feb 9th, 2013 at 17:18 GMT
Not enough time, but it might be enough if there wasn't any of the inane, moronic commentary. I know it isn't on the majority of the questions, but it's a huge waste of time. They aren't anything approaching funny or clever. They're distracting and pointless.
Feb 9th, 2013 at 18:12 GMT
I liked the commentary, but the scrolling was a pain. Though I think it might have been a bit better if i were using a mouse with a scroll wheel, instead of my laptop's touchpad.
Feb 9th, 2013 at 18:13 GMT
@duncandm: It's easy to skip reading the commentary and look at what's in quotes (the title). But the commentary does give clues (so you know the answer is a color or a number, as 2 examples).

I spent a good amount of time searching for Rwanda and began to doubt that I knew how the alphabet works...

Great quiz. I just wish all quiz authors would forget about the Harry Potter books. I didn't read them, don't know their titles, and have no desire to learn them.
Feb 9th, 2013 at 23:19 GMT
Sorry, way too much scrolling -- I got annoyed and quit.
Feb 10th, 2013 at 01:05 GMT
Gave up after two minutes of constant scrolling. This quiz is like asking someone to open a dictionary and define the words 'abacus'; 'zoo'; beetle'; 'yacht; 'coronation' and 'vuvuzela' in that order. Then I noticed that you started doing questions alphabetically. Why couldn't they all be like that? Tsk. Pft. Tut.
