This was a little too easy. They were either very well known or ones I could guess from a short list, such as the first five states or Ivy League schools.

I felt this way as I was creating it. If I do another, I'll make it more difficult.

It's a good quiz, but the 5 Russian Leaders is random since it is the only category not related to the United States.

You might want to uncheck "accept last names"—typing "day" gets you all the holidays. It's also a bit annoying to have to type "Pennsylvania" twice. Finally, I think "Marine Corps" should be an acceptable answer.

Good suggestions. I'll add Marine Corp. I allowed Penn for the first Pennsylvania to keep from typing full name.

8 out of 9 of these are American! There was history in other countries too, you know.

Sorry. I'm a Yank! Didn't know there was such a cosmopolitan audience on Sporcle. I will correct this in future quizzes.

Not so much 'cosmopolitan' as 'international'. Whilst the majority of sporclers are American, those of us from elsewhere are a vocal minority. :D Still, I found it an interesting quiz, and some are actually tricky for non-US folk.

Whoa sometimes it's tough to be a Brit! Nice job and well put together, it's always good to learn something (and in my case be painfully reminded of your lack of knowledge!). 5 globes.

You have to specify that it's the second Russian Revolution as there are two in 1917. The first removed the Tzar and it was only the second that brought in Lenin.

Darn. 44 of 45. Who knew the bearded guy on the 50 dollar bill was so young when he was elected President? Would agree that it should say the October Revolution to differentiate from the February Revolution.

Well I drew a complete blank on the Russian leaders. Couldn't even pull Lenin or Stalin out of my head and now I am kicking myself. Finally got the last president (Grant) by going through all the presidents, but I surprised myself by actually knowing the other 4.

Can't you just let us type out Pennsylvania and get both answers in one go? So pointless accepting "Penn" for one when we just have to write it out after anyway

Lucky the colors were obvious - in all the years they were used, I don't ever once recall a threat level other than orange.

got em all with four seconds left. Yes. Although it might do to shave some time off. I had enough time left over to run through all the Presidents to get what I had missed. I also find it interesting that at least half of the people got all but four of the questions but only 4% got all of them right.

@taramn: The Marine Corps is part of the Department of the Navy, but in terms of organization and leadership is a separate command from the US Navy.

As a Norwegian, I had real problems guessing the US federal holidays. What I didn't expect though, were my extremely weak skills in pronouncing russian communist's names in english. Well, "Lenin" is ok, "Stalin" is pretty straightforward, as is "Andropov". But "Khrushchev"? Really?

Good quiz, but felt as though the Russian leaders one was a bit of a token gesture. Could use a bit more variety (prime ministers, Roman emperors, etc).

Yeah, either make this a strictly US history quiz, or add more variety to it. It was still fun, though.
