Pretty fun! You might want a different clue for Absalom, Absalom though; I'm not sure if it's obvious that it's the same word, but if it is, then there's really no skill involved.

@rightanswer: Thanks. I intentionally did AA because it provides the entire answer. I wondered how many would know it/get it.

I see no reason to remove AA. Now the Dr. Seuss one, on the other hand, is pretty difficult. The only reason I got it is because I've been reading Dr. Seuss to my son recently.

@LTH: I'll like to have a real toughy or two in every quiz. That's a good book, btw. Used to love reading it to my kids.

Is it worth mentioning that "head" needs one more letter to be half the word?

I'd be interested in a half price book called Turtle Wombat.

'Tortilla Flat'! I've even got that on the shelf behind me right now, but I've never got around to reading it...maybe that's why I missed it. :/

Totally thought it was Little Wombat at first.

Good quiz, but I would suggest making sure that each word has an even number of letters. The way it is now, there is inconsistency with odd-numbered words - sometimes you make the larger "half" the half you show and sometimes it's the half you hide.

I JUST READ Tortilla Flat and didn't get it. Instead, I guessed "Vanilla Flan," which I think would make for a pretty tasty book.

What in the world is McElligot's Pool? to keep us from getting 100%? It was just odd to have a few letters missing from one word and many letters missing from the other

since you were pretty consistent about including punctuation, why did you leave the hyphen out of moby-dick? my understanding is that even though the whale's name is moby dick, the title of the book is moby-dick.

@laschmela: LOL, I guessed Vanilla Flan too! @witz1960: It's a kid's book by Dr. Seuss.

@witz1960 In each case, half of both words is missing. So proportionally it is consistent.

In
on Qui
, we've got less than half of the second word to go on. On the other hand, we've got more than half of the first word, so maybe that's fair. (And I don't really expect you to change it to
ɔn Qui›
, although that would be fun....)

It should really be "tch-11" on here, imo...:)
