| @TheCleverone: I disagree entirely. Fergie 's impact on football is overwhelmingly negative and, no, the game would not be anything like it is today - it would be better. People need to stope kneeling down to him and worshipping him. Don't get me wrong, I think he was a fantastic manager - a great tactician, motivator and man-manager, but, despite this, his impact on the game is for the wrong reasons:
-He turned a previous positive, respected football club into an arrogant, rule-breaking franchise.
-He manipulated referees and football officials for personal gain. 80% of 50/50 decisions went Man Utd's way when Ferguson has been in charge. Their poor record in Europe is evidence that they're not so successful when the governing bodies and referees aren't on their side.
In my opinion, Fergie got lucky. He managed a team in very favourable circumstances: he was in charge of the biggest club with so much power over the entire English game; had the press and media fawning over him; had the best players and most money; and soft referees and lenient football bodies. It would be hard for him not to be successful in these circumstances.
You're a Liverpool fan, you're not meant to like Ferguson - it's part of what supporting Liverpool is about. Stop worshiping him because everyone else is. |
