	I tried "Gaelic", "Scots Gaelic", "Irish Gaelic", "Erse", "Manx": some of these at least should be accepted.

	Manx should be one of the languages. Also are the three Scottish ones actually separate languages or are they dialects?

	i think anglo-saxon refers more to old english than modern english - i certainly don't know anyone who chooses to refer to english as anglo-saxon. good point about manx except the isle of man and the channel islands are british crown dependencies, not part of the uk in the same way that say the isle of wight or the outer hebrides are, so i guess i'm a bit loathed to put manx and french in because then where do you stop? do you put spanish in for gibraltar and the falkland islands? greek for the sovereign base areas in cyprus? i don't want to open a can of worms. i could always change the name of the quiz and include all languages spoken in british overseas territories to make it more difficult. anyway, it's my first quiz so i'm still learning - thank you very much for your comments, please feel free to comment further. as soon as i figure out how to edit quizzes, i'll allow erse and irish gaelic for irish.

	and i think i'll take out ulster scots because i think you're right lamb18 - it might be more of a dialect. ill accept it for lowland scots.

	Should Cockney Rhyming slang be included as well? After all it was a language created by a section of society to pass messages covertly within their section.

	I assume this is only including languages currently having some degree of usage/revival...maybe you should include Manx if you've got Cornish on there? They're from the same language family.

	Cockney rhyming slang is neither a language nor a dialect. It's just slang (who'd have guessed?).

	@ nicsi - yeah, but like i said the isle of man is a british crown dependency so doesn't really count. i think i'm going to change the name of the quiz. @wyvernsabres - no, rhyming slang itself is slang, but cockney rhyming slang is most definitely a dialect because it doesn't just include the rhyming slang, there's several other features to it as well.

	So what you're saying is Cockney is a dialect, because it doesn't just include the rhyming slang. Right. But the rhyming slang is just slang, and is frequently used as such in conjunction with everyday English.

	@LukeyP: I assumed since it's called indigenous languages of the uk that you were refering to the original languages spoken on hte islands, I didn't expect English to appear at all at first, and if it did, that it would be early English, but I guess you're right, but still seriously manx should be an answer

	@wyvernsabres: yep you're right, think we're on the same wavelength sort of. @bicyclerace: this quiz is much more complicated than i first envisaged. i actually searched for this, couldn't find it and so decided to make it. i only wrote indigenous because obviously there are second generation immigrants in the uk, who are uk citizens, who speak hundreds of different languages, and i wanted to omit these. how do i make it clear that i don't mean 'foreign' languages, but i don't mean old saxon, latin, norman, etc.? and i am tempted to bow to popular demand and put in manx but i am still a bit weary - like i said, if i put in manx, i should also put in french, guernésiais, sercquiais and jèrriais...
