Unfortunately, since Sporcle limits the characters you can use in the answers box, I haven't included all species. If I missed one you would consider important, write it in the comments and I'll see if I can replace one of the more obscure species with it.

Man? You have human, but in this context, man is not male-only.

A great quiz Loona - shall we sit back and wait for the first comment that you've spelt extinct wrong (I'd love to be wrong here but I fear I won't be!). Can you pop a Biology and an Animal tag onto this quiz please?

Marvellous quiz! Would there be space to allow “cow” for the Artiodactyla? Also, “Kangaroo” still doesn’t seem to work.

I'm so dumb, how could I forget about Monito del Montes? That was such a gimme, and I totally missed it. ;) Great quiz!

This quiz really testes one's Google-fu rather than knowledge, I think! But I enjoyed it!

@Minkin: Well there was the original Shrew, which I still think was the best, Shrew 2, Shrew the Third which was terrible, and finally Shrew Forever After.
@Schulace: Fine, just don't lactate unless you clean up.

For the carniverous marsupial order, I kept typing in "thylacine" and wondering why it didn't work. Then I reread the instructions.

Very difficult since when I studied zoology eons ago, all marsupials were in one order. Other than that, I think I did OK.

I just love this quiz. First I typed in all the answers I knew from the names of the orders. Then I guessed as much different types of mammals I could think of. I got quite a few like that.

@roonilwazlib: in spite of being a native speaker of Spanish, I had never seen "monito del monte" (the animal or the name) ever before in my life. So I also looked it up and it happened that the little mammal lives in Argentina. Guess the country I'm from.

The marsupials that came up made me think I had them all. Apparently they are a full-blown infraclass.

The order Cetacea is no longer true, it has merged with the Artiodactyla to form the order Cetartiodactyla (although still a little controversial): http://data.gbif.org/species/browse/taxon/23901861 http://www.springerlink.com/content/7182431083161727/ http://www.arkive.org/fin-whale/balaenoptera-physalus/

What happened to insectivora?
emilystrange
:

Insectivora has been removed from the tree of life because the animals within it turned out not to be related. Some have been placed into the orders Erinaceomorpha (not morphIa as the quiz suggests)and Soricomorpha.
