There are a bunch of things wrong with this. You've completely switched CONMEBOL and CONCACAF, and last time I checked it was called France and not France the Cheats. Sporcle isn't a place for subjective name-calling.

o wow, i never noticed the france the cheats parts... it is outrageous what happened in that game, but one shouldn't be partial like this in a sporcle quiz...

@aji: If this quiz was on the Sporcle front page I could understand. There are plenty of user-created quizzes with dubious opinions. Just enjoy the quiz and take it for what it is - a bit of tongue-in-cheek.

Boy, it's like you (presumably) English types have some kind of animosity towards goals that are scored via uncalled handballs.

Not really. Ireland just got robbed by the most blatant handball, and I feel gutted for them. It's not as if it was a minor incident in a minor match...

I've removed 'France the Cheats' because I don't want this quiz to become a whinge-fest...

So, pardon an ignorant American's question, but what's the strongest group here? G looks intimidating, but again, I haven't watched a football match in quite a while

If it makes you Ireland-lamenters (I'm one, too) feel any better, with the Ivory Coast playing we'll at least get to see a lot of upside-down Irish flags.

Surprised to see N. Korea, for some reason. Also, how funny would it be if the Vatican had a team?

The H is like the Hispanophone group, except for Switzerland. Vatican having a team is a funny idea, imagine the Pope wearing a football outfit with the captain's armband :)

Another interesting fact. North Korea on the same Group with Portugal. The two teams had met on the 1962 World Cup in England, N. Korea was almost winning, but Portugal snatched it away scoring goals in a row. Don't think that North Korea can win, but I'll be supporting them on that group (along with Cote d'Ivorie) , because of my general sympathy with the Asian (and African) countries. My main team is, of course (as you can guess) JAPAN. NIPPON BANZAI!!

I personally think Group D is the really rough one, but then, I liked what I saw of Ghana last time. Germany and Australia are both pretty fierce too, and Serbia's no slacker. Also, I think Ireland should be added as a bonus.

Even though I should be supporting Greece I don't think there's any point in doing that. We're not gonna win with the team we have now. I'm just hoping we don't lose all the matches we're in. Nice quiz!

As a dutchmen Im absolutely satisfied with the draw in Group E. But I wouldnt never underestimated it. Cameroon is probably one of the strongest teams of Africa. Denmark has always nice players. Also players who are playing in the Dutch league. And than the Japenese. its possible. We've won the friendly mtach with 3-0 in September. But you know. On a world championsship everything is different.

@candyman81cb: dude, dont blame the referees for not calling the deliberately handling. speaking as a referee, yes, we do miss calls, it happens, we are not perfect. you get to yell at the french for resorting to cheating to win. just leave the referees alone

Nice quiz, was a pleasure doing. However, all these Ireland pushers in these comments are annoying. Yes, it was a poor decision, it happens, and it's even happened in these qualifying games to other countries. Even if Gallas had not scored, the game would have still gone to extra time and then penalties (which the French are pretty good at), so it's not like Ireland was winning.

@ulashima the old pope (john paul ii) used to be a goalkeeper. don't know if this one has any sporting prowess.
