give me a link, and some sort of basis by which these are the "best places." I find it hard to believe that certain attractions in London, Paris, Rome or Athens aren't on this list.

Based on the actual answers, it seems that the author was looking for what in English we would call 'public squares' rather than 'places'. Although how any list of best squares could omit Piazza San Marco in Venice is beyond me.

well since it has a list of areas in order in the extra info collum im guessing it means greatest in size

it's not the greatest place by interesting site, but by area; I will rename it making understanding it easier
