@sammyhain, quoting from the source: "These statistics are derived from official causes of death detailed on certificates of death by each country. Rather than being a true indicator of the number of deaths attributed to a particular cause, mortality statistics reveal more about a particular country's reporting processes." So it's really a list of countries where poisonous snake bite fatalities occur AND they have good reporting statistics.

Very surprised at lack of Asia and Africa, must be down to deaths relating to snake bites not being reported.

@tahitiwahini: That's true of a lot of quizzes about causes of death, economics, etc. Countries that don't keep records or refuse to share them get left off. When I was guessing, I went for countries that have lots of poisonous snakes + higher populations + good reporting.
