There are way too many game misconducts to list, stick to minor/major penalties. A lot of these penalties are the same and are not listed on the source(ex. Abuse of officials and unsportsmanlike conduct). Hitting from behind should be accepted.

Bench minor, which could possibly be abuse of official. and wouldn't too many sticks be illegal equipment?

Haha roping. Isn't closing hand on puck a penalty?

Icing doesn't send anyone to the penalty box. As far as my understanding, playing with "too many sticks" is if a player picks up a second stick while play is going on. Illegal equipment would be if the ONE stick you are playing with is the wrong size, too much curve to the blade, carrying a broken stick during play, etc. GOOD QUIZ!

what about the goalie playing the puck in the restricted area?

@mnsu2009, that is considered "Delay of Game"

The most common is probably "playing with too many stick", I hate when players are always trying to sneak onto the ice with armfuls of sticks.

you need to put "throwing the stick" on there too.

Good quiz, you should also accept "intent to injure" for the "attempt to injure" one.

I'm pretty sure the goalie can leave the crease, just not cross the red (centre) line

@lhm, Goaltender leaving crease only applies when a fight is occurring on the ice.

@stevierox2: icing is not a penalty, the defense just gets the faceoff in their zone and cant make a line change

I tried "intent to injure" and "Match penalty" for what ended up being "attempt to injure"... felt bad about only getting 21 but looks like its not that bad

Closing hand on puck is definitely a penalty.

I tried to clean this quiz up a bit, so it now (almost) matches the NHL website. Hopefully it's a little easier to play now. Thanks for your input everyone! I've added a few bonus answers, a bunch of alternate answers, and made some of the changes you've suggested.

@kingofugly: I've seen most (but not all) of these called in a game, but you're right, there are only about 10 of these that are called frequently.

Actually there is only 6 or 7 that are not called frequently. You really should have 10 minute misconduct in there as it is a separate penalty on its own. Closing your hand on the puck is not a penalty unless it is in your own end. Illegal stick should be accepted for equipment. As to the goalie crossing the red line, it is a penalty unless he is leaving the ice for an extra attacker and it is covered under delay of game.
