How about adding 4 categories & changing the Style to 5 columns? I suggest "Emmy - Drama Series" (e.r.) "Emmy - Comedy Series" (M*A*S*H, Taxi), #1 song sung by Michael Jackson (ABC, Ben, Bad), Spelled out number (One, Six, Ten, Two)

wigan has five letters, fulham has six, or are you calling them Wigan Athletic? If that's the case, then why are you not including the parts before the nickname for the NBA, NFL and NHL?

What about Hull?

Hull is technically Hull City, Bolton is Bolton Wanderers, Wigan is Wigan Athletic. Derby is Derby County. Fulham is simply Fulham. Or, rather, Fulham FC, but the FC can be, I think, consistently dropped. Personally I'd accepte the 4s, 5s, and other 6s as bonus answers.

Bolton WANDERERS, Wigan ATHLETIC, Derby COUNTY. Not a particularly hard concept to grasp. For the record, Bury FC have the shortest name in the football league.

Good quiz, very original but a few too many US sports teams for my liking!

Okay guys, I've added some Premier League bonuses...but I'm not familiar with the official names versus common names. Help me out here - consensus on Leeds, Stoke City, and Oldham Athletic? Should they be bonuses as well?

I tried "dog" for AKC dog breeds. I guess they want you to be a little more specific.

How about QPR (Premier League) as a bonus, or even As (MLB).

A's should be a bonus for baseball. I know their real name is the "Athletics" but they're so commonly known as the "Oakland A's" that I think it should be a bonus.

I tried "red sox" for the MLB category. It didn't work, but I got both "reds" and "ox" out of it!

Really like the idea of this quiz although I'd prefer it to be more general and less sport-oriented...though I guess I might be alone in my opinion!

Why are the 49ers listed? That's 5 letters/numbers, compared to 4 for the other two teams.

@Tom_the_Dog - 49ers (and 76ers) has 3 letters. Depends how literally you want to take the title, which is why both are bonuses

Could bucs be a bonus for NFL teams? Many people call the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the bucs (it even accepts it as an answer on most sports team quizzes).

You're definitely right on using to use full names for UK football clubs, but Hull City is the only bonus answer you really need. If you misinterpreted the category and just used the place name, Hull *would* be the shortest - Leeds, Stoke, Oldham etc are wrong, however you see it, and actually less close to correct than Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton...

I types in A's and it accepted it, but I didn't know it was a bonus so I thought all the other answers would also be 2 or 3 letters.

I wish Sporcle would bring back the feature that tells you how many bonuses you missed after the quiz is done.

Great quiz, real brain-burner. Time seemed tight for me, but maybe I was just wasting too much time thinking of every NHL team except for the darn Wild.

I'm guessing it's fewer characters rather than letters, really, which makes 76ers and 49ers five-character words.

Yay, more premier league rep, haha. I'm with sporcle's not counting 76ers and 49ers just because it makes it more of an interesting quiz that way.

considering all answers had 4 letters or less, I dont think "Fulham" was necessary.
