Great quiz, I fared much better at this than at the current decade. I'll blame Gary Bettman for that.

It's interesting that there are five defensemen on the list, while the the 2000s have only two. The question is whether scoring as a defensemen was easier back then or this is because these five are arguably the most talented group of defensemen the game has seen - besides Orr of cause. Keep them coming... next up: the 80s.

@le_affan, you would put coffey, leetch and housley in a group of the most talented defensemen ever over Savard, Robinson, Shore, Lidstrom and Stevens? That's an interesting point of view. I mean Coffey was great, but he's actually supposed to play defense, not just score goals.

Thank you, NHL 94, for allowing me to get more than Gretzky and Lemieux - which surely would have been the case otherwise.

I hate hockey because it is so hard to watch on TV. They should really use a white puck on black ice for better visibility. BONUS: The Florida Panthers could freeze the water from the Gulf of Mexico without doing any extra coloring.

I may not have gotten all of them, but I'm glad to see that my favorite Flyers at least made the list.

@slave2thegrind: to do that, add your bonus answer in the bottom row, then type "ee" in the 3rd column

If you had tried to bet hockey fans in 1994 that Pavel Bure wouldn't rank among the top 50 scorers of the 90's, you could have made a hell of a lot of money.

@fatbeard: Well, that was exactly the point of my question. It's always hard to compare players from different eras, let alone with players that most of us have never seen on (color) television, cf. Shore. And you are correct that defenseman should be known and famous for playing defense not just for scoring. That's why Stevens would definitely top Housley and Coffey in my personal list. Leetch on the other hand is one of the few defenders to win a Conn Smythe (together with Robinson, Savard, Stevens, Niedermayer, MacInnis, Lidstrom and Orr by the way) and that's why I'd regard him as much Stevens. But I guess that's just my opinion...
