It's always hard to compare players from different eras, let alone with players that most of us have never seen on (color) television, cf. Shore. And you are correct that defenseman should be known and famous for playing defense not just for scoring. That's why Stevens would definitely top Housley and Coffey in my personal list. Leetch on the other hand is one of the few defenders to win a Conn Smythe (together with Robinson, Savard, Stevens, Niedermayer, MacInnis, Lidstrom and Orr by the way) and that's why I'd regard him as much Stevens. But I guess that's just my opinion... |
