Actually began to write "Deuce" for one of these. Shame, indeed...

Don't know why but I tried Susan for Boyle & Russel for Crowe... Also, could you accept Alphonso ? Fun quiz!

Re: @notaratface's comment - You definitely need to make "Michael" an option for Ritchie. Otherwise, good quiz!

I knew quite a few, but had never thought about how unconventional so many of them are. This is one of those quizzes where guessing is of very little help. Maybe I should adopt an unusual first name and then I could become a great director. Maybe "Sporcle"....I don't think too many people go by that name.

You know you take way too many geography quizzes when you see Leone and automatically type "Sierra".

So many directors with the same last name as a famous actor. So many times I instinctively typed in the actor instead!

By the way, a lot of these aren't their first names: George Welles, Samuel Wilder, Francseco Capra, Manoj Shyamalan, William Stone, Mano Curtiz, Rajmund Polanski, Mark Luhrmann, Adam Jones ...

Sporcle commenters never surprise me. There's always at least a third of them with the "why didn't you include so-and-so," and at least one with pedantic "the quiz name is wrong because of some irrelevant reason." You can't include every damned director who ever made a movie on here, folks. As for "but that's not their real first names," I think we all understood what was being asked for. I guess it just makes some people feel important to "prove" how much more they know than everyone else. Anyway, great quiz. I didn't do great on it, but I enjoyed it immensely. Nice mix of nationalities and film styles.

I think it should accept "Francis" for "Francois". I knew it I just didn't realize he spelled his name like that.

Hmm, it is a collection including a lot of somewhat less typical names (so seven Bills or Johns don't pop up) and so I think New York is being dissed a little by the exclusion of Woody and Martin. A Deuce Bigelow bonus would have been appreciated. And though I got Campion, I always think Captain Campion first, from Watership Down. I'm not a well man....

Tried Benicio for Del Toro six or seven times, with alternative spellings and all. I feel so stupid now the answer has come up.
