On all the quizzes with names like "Things you should be embarrassed to know" and "Knowledge that makes you an awful human being" and whatnot, I always take perverse pride in doing well. For this one, though? Getting 99th percentile just makes me want to take a shower and have dinner at home.

I'd never even HEARD of the N, V, and Y restaurants! In addition, we don't have the F, G, or U where I live at ALL. Then, I've never been to or near an F, but I've been to a G, and been to a U at an airport.

Many of these aren't the top chain for their letters. There is an E chain ranked 62 and an F ranked 61, for instance.

Starbucks' unofficial slogan really would have helped me: "There's one opening up in your basement right now"

Starbucks' unofficial slogan really is: "We're not really what you would call a 'restaurant'."

I would not eat at a restaurant called a "corral," whether golden or any other color. Also, "sty," "wallow," "barn," and "abattoir." Okay, maybe if it was the "Platinum Abattoir Buffet," I would go once.

I would not call Starbucks a restaruant. @itswhatiam: What restaurants are number one for e and f? The number in parentheses is their overall rank!

Letter R used to exist in Maine, but they failed because they couldn't compete with all the local fisherman and restaurants. I still shake my head at whatever executive who had the bright idea to bring that restaurant to Maine.

@phantom, they changed it right after I made the comment. They had Einstein Bros Baker (92) for E and the F was Five Guys Burger (96). They also changed (corrected) the L (Long John Silvers, originally) as well.

If Starbucks isn't a restaurant, then what is it? They sell ready to consume non-alcoholic beverages and some food so I'm pretty sure that makes them as much a restaurant as anything else on this list.

@Riko: Starbucks is a coffee shop, that seems pretty obvious to me. There are many grocery stores that sell more ready-to-eat food then Starbucks does, are they restaurants too? For example, yesterday for dinner I had a sub from Publix (grocery chain in the southeast) and a few days earlier had fried chicken from the same place. It's definitely not a restaurant.

The current Wendy's slogan is "You know when it's real" - although according to Wikipedia "Quality is our Recipe" was their initial slogan and is still on the logo. The Zaxby's slogan is (and as far as I know has always been) "Indescribably Good", not "Incredibly Good".

What is "top"??? Sales??? Location??? Flavor???I don't see a source??? Subway has 35k+ locations and an estimated $17b in sales. Starbucks has around 17k locations and an estimated $10b in sales. So how is Starbucks ahead of Subway???

No El Pollo Loco in New Mexico, and the Taco Bells are few and far between. Proud to have some real Mexican food here.

The 99 Restaurant is fantastic. Lived in the cold Northeast for nine years and that place was one thing I enjoyed about living there. Never heard that slogan though so I missed that one.

"Never been to the States but I'd like to visit and give some of these a try!" Most of them are awful! Also, Starbucks isn't really a restaurant. They have some food items but they're all pre-made and shipped in.

@jrstocker, Starbucks are open very early in the morning and sell a hell of a lot of coffee and food, plus other things like mugs, music, brewers, etc. Subway caters mainly to the lunch crowd.
