I think some character first names should be acceptable here. Dorothy alone should be ok. And "Corleone" could identify a number of characters in that movie, while "Vito" is very clear.

I feel bad that the one answer I missed was the name of the one character that was actually a real person.

Pretty sure Gollum says "My precious" for the first time during Galadriel's voiceover at the opening of Fellowship. Great quiz!

jamesdg is correct. Gollum definitely utters the line during the prologue to Fellowship.

You spelled Gordon wrong. It wouldn't accept the full name. Finally, I just put Gekko. Otherwise, fun quiz!

Nice quiz! I'd also like to agree with crazylegs' archived comment, about accepting just "Dorothy." (Since you accepted "Dirty Harry," which is how Harry Callahan was known... "Dorothy" was pretty much how she was known. Both "Callahan" and "Gale" seem to be the least important aspects of those characters' nomenclature). That said, I repeat, still, nice quiz!

Although the movie may have originally been released as "Star Wars", it is now known fairly commonly as "A New Hope", so that answer really should be accepted.

Answer to "May the Force be with you" is incorrect. Han Solo is the first major character to say the classic line, but I believe General Dodonna is actually says it in the scene immediately prior to Solo's scene in the hanger when he is going over the battle plan for the raid on the Death Star.

@kyouteki. Correct, you are. Moreover, it makes no sense for Han to have said the line first, given has attitude towards The Force and Obi-Wan's teachings in general.

"Look Marge, you don't know what it's like. I'm the one out there every day putting his butt on the line. And I'm not out of order! You're out of order. The whole freaking system is out of order. You want the truth? You want the truth?! You can't handle the truth! 'Cause when you reach over and put your hand into a pile of goo that was your best friend's face, you'll know what to do! Forget it, Marge, it's Chinatown!"

@RS89: Only by geeks. Ask 100 people on the street if they have seen the movie "A New Hope" and most of them will say no. Ask 100 people if they have seen "Star Wars" and most of them will say yes.

I enjoyed it. Was stumped on a few character names. I might note that in the prologue to "Lord of the Rings: the Fellowship of the Ring", Gollum/Smeagol also says "My Precious". Bilbo says it in "Fellowship" too, so the movie should be "Fellowship" rather than "Two Towers".

For absolutely no reason whatsoever, I read "Here's looking at you, kid." as "nobody puts baby in the corner" and was confused why dirty dancing wasn't correct...wow

Accepting first names would probably pull Rick Blaine out of the bottom of the heap.

I tried several variations of Ben Kenobi, Obi-Wan, etc. before going with Han Solo. If the "Hey Kid" line was also here, it would have been a no-brainer.

I don't recall whether the Vince Vaughn version of Psycho had that line, but that one might need an asterisk too. Good quiz.

John - I've seen "Casablanca" many times - I knew the name of his cafe, and "Eat at Rick's," etc. I just had no idea what his last name was.

For the record, I've never seen Casablanca (terrible, I know) and I still got Rick Blaine. I'm certainly not bragging. I'm just saying that it shouldn't accept just "Rick" if someone who knows very little about the movie can manage without it. These are supposed to be challenging.

Great quiz: want more. But I'd love some consistency with accepting 1st names or requiring both. I knew "Dorothy Gale" but it accepted with just "Dorothy". Yet I didn't know Rick's last name was "Blaine" and didn't get that credit. Can we stick to one system or the other? Thanks!
