	Sorry I probably should have checked the details before I contributed this ****. As for the other point raised I was trying to list empires with distinct territories in reference to the nations we have today (such as the Ottoman empire as Turkish) rather than similar movements and dynasties (such as the Chinese empire being summed-up as the Qing)

	I kept trying all kinds of conceiveable variations on Mauryan, to no avail. As almost everyone has said-- Ottoman and Mauryan need to be alternate allowed answers.

	Present-day Canada is at 10 million km^2. Australia at 7.7 would make the list too, in particular as Papua New Guinea was Australian too until 1975. Is the reason that they were excluded that they're not considered to be empires? Furthermore, where's Soviet? You do after all write "Russian (as opposed to Soviet Union)".

	Expanding on my comment above (having read what LEWDO wrote) China was a large empire through several dynasties, but the Turkish empire was only large under the Ottomans and is historically referred to as the Ottoman Empire.

	This quiz just seems factually inaccurate. What do you mean by "by area?" Do you mean largest for each geographic region or largest in total size? If it's the latter, you can't lump together different dynasties/empires just because they were concentrated in the same area. If it's the former, you should clarify.

	I'm not sure if this was taken from wikipedia or not, but the article on the "list of largest empires" is a huge mess, with many of the questions being raised here being raised there ... in principle, this is not a bad idea for a quiz, but I think in practice it does not make for a good one.

	Yes, I am a History PhD student and I still couldn't get all of these answers because of the way they are presented, the arbitrary names for the empires, and the seeming inaccuracies.
