| First of all, I just want to point out something that doesn't really matter but was bothering me - you said the goal was to guess what real-life thing each Pokemon is based on, but phoenices and dragons don't actually exist. Now onto things that matter just a wee bit more...there are no bears, hippos, or rabbits in the first generation. I suppose Wigglytuff might be a rabbit, but I always thought it was a balloon like Jigglypuff. That being said, some Pokemon aren't based on anything (Abra, Kadabra, and Alakazam might resemble something - I personally think they look kind of like cats, or at least Abra does - but they aren't actually supposed to be anything specific), and others are the incarnation of someting incarnate (the Nidoran family is described as poison dart, or poison drill, or something along those lines). Case in point: just because it looks like something doesn't mean it is. Also, Mew technically isn't a Gen. Pokemon. The original group of Pokemon only went up through Mewtwo. Trivial point at best, but a point nonetheless. |
