The wiki source is a bit dodgy in this case and should have given you Madagascar and Jamaica as well.

Yes, Madagascar, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago are all more populated than Malta, Cyprus and Mauritius. And a similar quiz already exists (http://www.sporcle.com/games/AlexRandom/popolous_island_nations) although there countries that share an island are allowed.

Indonesia is the fourth most populated country in the world and is comprised entirely of islands.

Yeah, but it shares borneo and new guinea with brunei and malaysia, and papua new guinea respectively. Therefore, according to his definition, indonesia is technically not an island nation. but i do agree that madagascar, jamaica, and trinidad should all be on the list.

You might hunt down a better source. Also, what about Australia?

Australia is mostly omitted, because being counted as a continent. But I oppose that, because even being a continent in its own right, it's still an island at the same time. I do think it should be on tests like these, but I see that it's been somewhat a Sporcle standard. So "In Rome do as the Romans do" as they say.

'Island nation that doesn't border another country' is the same as 'Country with no neighbors but not Australia'

@Sjoerd, I'm sorry you don't seem to understand that it is a Sporcle Standard to recognize Australia as a continent and not an island.

While your quiz is correct according to your definition, I'd still consider Ireland, Indonesia, UK, etc... to be "island nations". They're certainly not "mainland nations"...

@Apollo, True, but I created this quiz according to my definition. A quiz with those standards already exists.
