For those who have never played "Taboo", here's the gist: You're given a word or phrase on the top of a card, and you have to describe it to your teammate(s) without using five other words or phrases listed below it. For example, if the word is "Kite", you can't say "Fly", "Wind", "String", "Ben Franklin", or "Sky", nor any version of those words (so no "Flying" and no "Franklin"). Thus, I could try to make my teammate guess "Kite" by saying, "It's a thin diamond on the end of a thread, and when you run with it, it floats up into the air."
The point of this quiz is to come up with those five words- so if you saw "Kite", the answers would be "Fly", "Wind", etc. The kicker is that- like with "Ben Franklin"- the taboo words aren't necessarily those most closely related to the word, but the ones most likely to be used in describing it. Be careful with words that have multiple meanings- for "Smear", you can't say "Lipstick", but you also can't say "Campaign".
I took all of the words (including the examples above) directly from the version of the game in my living room. |
