Tahnan : Nov 15th, 2010 at 12:08 GMT 3 points Surprisingly entertaining. (Or, since it's Kicking222, perhaps it's unsurprising.)
Kicking222 : Nov 15th, 2010 at 12:29 GMT 3 points Thanks, man! :) I'm going to be completely honest: I never make the ever-so-popular "scramble" or "fill in the blank quizzes", because I never enjoy them- they're always easy and rarely fun. (That's not to say there's no use for them; I don't like them, but I speak only for myself.) Whether I'm making a quiz or taking a quiz, I want it to be both fun and at least somewhat challenging. When this idea hit me a couple of days ago, I decided that if I could make it tricky without making it really hard, I'd go for it; I'm proud of the finished product.
Interestingly, the quiz originally consisted of 20 questions on 20 different topics, but I realized that if you couldn't get one of them, you were done; here, there are at least a couple of clues (in particular, AAADGGLY, BCIILLLNNOT, ACIOR, and AEEFFHJMNOORSST) for which you might be able to get them even if you don't know which category they fall under.
hscer : Nov 15th, 2010 at 23:01 GMT 3 points Yeah, I don't care for the jumbles either. Plus, I only got 11 of 20. However, I find this to be one of your best efforts, Kicking. Which means this would be an average Sporcle user's crowning achievement ;-)
Kicking222 : Nov 16th, 2010 at 15:57 GMT 3 points Thanks, pal. :D
Fidelio : Nov 20th, 2010 at 16:17 GMT 2 points Great idea. I'd suggest, though, that if you're going to specify that you're looking for a president's full name, you shouldn't use a nickname.
tardis : Nov 20th, 2010 at 17:01 GMT 5 points @fidelio: When was the last time you heard "James Carter" or "William Clinton?"

Shortney87 : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 06:08 GMT 4 points 15/20 this was really tough!
ChestRockwell : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 06:13 GMT 8 points Too tough for me. It's hard to get two words out of one mix.
akwatfanroadie : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 07:30 GMT 8 points That was hard...but I liked it. Scrambling the letters by putting them in alphabetical order was extra tricky of you!
pegcle : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 09:47 GMT 3 points With all due respect they are playing fast and loose with the term 'current' pop singers.
MRL : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 12:05 GMT 3 points @pegcle: They've all had albums in 2009, 2010, or will in 2011. That's current.
Comment below threshold: show it TL333s : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 12:14 GMT -10 points Wait... WOLVERINE? What the hell? Bad quiz.
Kicking222 : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 12:41 GMT 1 point @pegcle: Robbie Williams had an album that went top-10 worldwide that came out in November of 2009, and he had a #2 UK single last month . Kylie Minogue had an album that went top-10 worldwide that came out four months ago. It's tough to get more current than that.
@Everyone: Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't sure if this would get published, and I wasn't sure what the reaction would be. I'm really glad that it seems to be more positive than negative, and I hope you all had fun.
ezois : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 13:37 GMT -1 points Michiganders would know wolverine. Anyone else have to make 3 tries at Abu Dhabi?
jpahk : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 13:45 GMT 0 points i liked it. could've used more time, though. very brain-bendy, and i had to guess the names of some of the singers.
ManlyStump : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 14:28 GMT 1 point A bit repetitive with the categories. Would have worked better with less US presidents and pop singers and gone for countries, chemical elements, best picture winners, etc.
TheLanimal : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 14:44 GMT 1 point I think the complaints about the currentness of the pop singers comes from their lack of penetration in the US. Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams haven't had hits in the US in a long time.
roonilwazlib : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 14:45 GMT 1 point Abu Dhabi was the first one I got! Couldn't get many of the others, though. Tough quiz. Maybe I should try again after another cup of coffee.
Kicking222 : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 15:44 GMT 3 points @jpahk: That's a totally valid critique; I originally based the time on the number of questions, not their difficulty. I upped the time by a minute- I hope that helps.
@ManlyStump: I mean absolutely no offense, but I'm not sure what your criticism is even saying. Do you mean that presidents and pop singers are used too often on Sporcle quizzes? Because I'm pretty sure countries, elements, and Oscar Best Picture winners are used even more often.
LAX_Girl : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 17:01 GMT 3 points The fact that you didn't separate the two words made it tricky, in a good way.
Alexxs : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 18:22 GMT 2 points I really had a hard time typing out Hippopotamus.. and I still have. I could see the word in the scramble but I couldn't get the word together.. :p In my own language we have a much easier word for hippo's.
Love the quiz though, quite difficult
Leroy573 : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 20:06 GMT 0 points this was one of the most difficult quizzes I've seen in a while. At least you don't have to go in order, and the order of the categories doesn't change. Creative, but a little frustrating when you can't get the first answer and you're stuck guessing on the other ones, and you're not even sure what you're looking for.
jawa88 : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 20:35 GMT 2 points wow. if ever there was a quiz designed to help fight off dementia, this is it! tough but awesome!!
skydozer : Nov 22nd, 2010 at 21:47 GMT -2 points I'm sorry - any quiz that takes 7 minutes just to figure out what is being asked . . .
Due respects, but these are supposed to be fun
Jerdoggiedog : Nov 23rd, 2010 at 02:04 GMT 1 point When a scramble is difficult it is usually because of the length. The clues are only marginally helpful because you can't get one unless you get one.
ManlyStump : Nov 23rd, 2010 at 13:17 GMT -1 points @Kicking222, I'm not talking about Sporcle quizzes in general. I'm talking about this particular one. Mix it up a little, that's all!
tsprite : Jan 6th, 2011 at 21:06 GMT 1 point @skydozer...did you read the instructions? it said precisely what was being asked.
And having the categories, I was able to figure stuff out without the clues...LOVED this quiz
are203 : Sep 30th, 2011 at 22:27 GMT 1 point The Thomas Jefferson one looked like the alphabet threw up haha. I had no clue
ilovechocolate : Mar 2nd, 2012 at 16:31 GMT 1 point good quiz but really challenging (that's not a bad thing) i found it quite hard to know whether it was 1 or 2 words though but that might just be me
