Call me a homer, but I'm a bit dismayed that the Wisconsin outline — and the corresponding lake outline — do not display the Door peninsula north of Sturgeon Bay, or Washington Island. They're certainly features that should stand out maps of this size.

OMG KenJennings has only been on Sporcle for a couple of weeks and he's already caught Kyrgyzstanitis. ( We'd better not tell him there is NO known cure)

@sargeanthr: they're the only two that look (almost) exactly the same, which is what makes them notable in the first place.

I sued Colorado! Because I think it looks a little too much like Wyoming!

I was looking at a road map of Wyoming and I noticed that the border actually has two or three tiny kinks in it, meaning it's not a perfect rectangle. A little part of me died that day.

I stood on Maui and looked at Lanai for the last 10 days and still missed it... probably b/c it's the size of the Bronx.

A fun quiz concept, though I do concede finding it a bit North American-centric, given the number of answers that related to US and Canadian geography. I'd be fascinated to see if someone could make a quiz along these lines, but with a more global approach.

Nice, but it would be better if you could include offshore islands for places like British Columbia (Vancouver Island!) Sweden, Tanzania, California, and even Wisconsin (Door Peninsula is missing north of the ship canal).

I'm now wondering what alias Mr. Jennings used Sporcle under for the last 4 years, then. Maybe he rotated one letter and went as 'Ben'...

Is Colorado ever so slightly wider and thinner than Wyoming, or just my eyes tricking me?

@szillmer Yeah, guilty. I left off outlying islands (and even a bay of Lake Michigan in one case) partly so that each was a single shape, and partly to make the resemblances clearer.

This was an awesome quiz, but there's a mistake. The last two states--clearly the answers are mixed up. I mean, it's just so obvious... right? It's right there in black and white and pixels don't lie.
