| I realize this quiz has been done before...perhaps more than once. I played the only one I found and decided to do this anyway, because of several major differences from the original.
1. The prior quiz had a significant error in it, going from Baton Rouge, LA to Austin, TX instead of going to Montgomery, AL which was significantly closer.
2. The prior quiz allowed state names to be entered instead of having to know and know how to spell the names of the capital cities.
3. I provided help (the answer) for each question so that if you got stuck you could simply type "help", get the answer and move on.
4. I created the routing for this quiz using Mapsource and uploaded the resulting map so that everyone can see the route.
Hope you enjoy, and let me know if there are any further improvements you'd like to see. BTW...there is nothing magical about starting in Madison, Wisconsin, other than the fact that I am from Wisconsin.
Finally...I decided against creating a lot of "wrong answers". For example, when going from Indianapolis to Frankfort,KY a lot of players might have guessed Columbus, OH first. I could have counted this as wrong and provided the correct answer in Red. I could have done this for many other questions where there would be some doubt as to which capital would be closer. What do you think...is it best for this type of quiz NOT to do this, or would you enjoy it, even if if means that you would have a higher probability of not getting 100% right. |
