| I also want to add that as bad as it is to give the Cy Young to a closer (whether he's a fat French-Canadian steroid freak or not), it's a hundred times worse to give him both that AND the MVP. The Cy Young is the pitcher award that should never go to a closer. The MVP is the award that should never go to a pitcher. So to give a guy two awards he should never be allowed to win, one of which NO pitcher, of any kind, should ever be allowed to win - it's pathetic. The writers in 1992 should all have lost their privileges after that. Closers are worthless. They're pitchers that can't make it as starters. "Even the very best of all-time?" Yea, even them. If they were really good, presumably their club would try to get 2 or 3 times as many innings out of them every year by starting them. Most overrated position in sports. |
