	Public television voters, huh:) And Mozart's german? I'd say he's Austrian and they should not count otherwise you could just go ahead and put an Austrian on number one (Niki Lauda, off course).

	Salzburg is now in Austria, but it wasn't at the time. I think it's reasonably fair to count him. Hitler gets counted as German.

	Hitler's not on the list, because he wasn't voted for by the German audience, so demand all you want, brmistkrieg. ;-) The real disgrace is hiding at spot 15.

	Dieter Bohlen, Guenther Jauch, Thomas Gottschalk... all above Thomas Mann, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Schiller? Mental. I mean I was making ridiculous guesses towards the end but I was never expecting Campino, Heino... let alone Kueblboeck. I'd genuinely forgotten about the guy, thanks, Sporcle for bringing back those memories. Just goes to show... the opinion of a mass of people is utterly useless.

	@Fidelio. I'd have Einstein higher as well, but I wouldn't consider it unreasonable for any of the nine above him to be placed higher in a large poll.

	Really ridiculous that Küblböck, Bohlen and Nena are higher ranked than Kant, Nietzsche, Schiller or Stauffenberg. But nonetheless there are very well known people on the list, I'm surprised that only a handful of them got more than 50%.

	Hitler wasn't born in Tirol, he was born in Upper Austria. But he had German citizenship and was German head of state, so he could be on the list, but few people in Germany would vote for him (wish they could have said that 80 years ago).

	Please accept "Friedrich II" (and probably "Friedrich 2") for Frederick II of Prussia. It's a quiz on Germans, so German names should work.

	Don't kick yourself for not getting Küblböck on #15 - he is only there because of people voting for jokes. The rest of the list is actually very good, I think. I see that some people are surprised by Gottschalk or Bohlen placing higher than Lessing etc, but I think it is accurate. Modern TV stars undoubtedly do have an impact on society in a way the classic writers didn't (couldn't) have.
