There seems to be too much time for this quiz. All of the cities are major cities within the states, so 1-2 minutes might be all that's needed. Incidentally, if you could accept NYC for New York City, that would be awesome.

Also, although people call it New York City, the actual name is just New York.

Thanks. I'll go ahead and shorten the time, change the name to New York as I was able to fact check that, and accept NYC as an answer.

it would be more interesting if it were on a per capita basis versus strict population.

I have a quiz that has the largest populations by percentages, which is pretty much a per capita based quiz. You can find it at http://www.sporcle.com/games/KBH/most_homosexual_city_by_percentage. But I may go ahead and compose one that is per capita as well.

gay population: it's not size that matters; it's the how you use it.

Where is your source? I can't play this game and believe what I am guessing because there is no source.

Ok, per some advice on the other quiz, I have removed the column hinting at the state's name to make it a bit more challenging. @rlnintendo, the source is Wikipedia.

The title should specify that its only cities based in the states and not worlwide

I have now specified that the cities are based in the United States, thanks for the suggestion.

I guess I don't find this list particularly enlightening. Gay individuals form a significant portion of the population...period. So it's not surprising that 10 of these 13 cities also happen to be among the top 12 most populated cities in the country, and t all are in the top 30. No issue with the quiz...though we might as well ask what the top cities are for population of left-handed people, or blue-eyed people.

I always thought San Francisco was number one, I was dead wrong.

With all the entertainers in Las Vegas, I can't believe it isn't on the list. Maybe they aren't considered residents of the city.

Good quiz, but should be ~3 minutes IMO

Should be done per capita; I'm pretty sure Palm Springs and West Hollywood (both in CA) would end up on the list.

1) Those are damn accurate numbers. How can any quantity in a city the size of New York be considered that accurate? 2) Do bi-sexuals count, and if so as 1 or 0.5? 3) So many odd numbers. That means that there's at least one gay or lesbian without a partner in those cities.
Yeah, these are silly comments, but any quiz that could claim a number that accurate is immediately suspect.

Pretty insane that gays in NY alone would make up the 68th biggest city in America lol.

I am skeptical about the data because of course it is presumably based on who would openly identify as Gay in a survey. In reality, with some exceptions I would expect the numbers to broadly reflect the cities' overall population. Also, I think the quiz might be cooler if you have to guess in order.

@eaglesmania: Knock that **** off, you're making our city look bad. When you look at the metro areas (which I think is a better measure) the numbers are much closer @KBH: this is the source [ http://www3.law.ucla.edu/williamsinstitute/publications/SameSexCouplesandGLBpopACS.pdf ]
