	Hockey is way too widely underrepresented here. Brodeur should certainly be here (and I'm not saying that Nolan Ryan wasn't amazing, I'm saying that Brodeur is amazing-er). Roy, Hasek, Bossy... Not sure of all of their numbers but how much better would they have had to be? These are the greatest hockey players of all time. Not even Ray Bourque

	Pete Rose was a third baseman and OF for the Reds, at least during the 70s. Joe Morgan was their 2B. He only happens to be the greatest 2B of all time.

	@fatbeard, I dont think hockey is underrepresented. They have Orr beating out Gehrig at #4,a nd guys like Fedorov, Gilmour, Gretzky, Jagr (though admittedly their strange choice of number helps...Gilmour especially). You have a point with Brodeur over Ryan, but this source is also severeal years old, so he didnt have all the records he has now. AS for the others you mention...Mike Bossy vs Emmitt Smith for 22, Patrick Roy vs Kareem for 33 Hasek vs Campanella for 39. Ray Bourque vs Red Grange 77. Some numbers will have plenty of choices (9 comes to mind immediately) some, not so much.

	The title can leave this quiz open for criticism. You should rename it "Great Players by Number" not "Best Athlete by Number." Just a way to protect yourself from people saying that its too much of a personal opinion.

	also some of the clues are awfully misleading. 76 is much more famous as a kicker then a tackle, 13 as a warrior, 26 as a steeler, 38 as a red sock, 72 as a red sock, etc

	I wish I could have had all the teams for each number but that would take up way too much space. So either you can guess from one of their teams or just know the number, plus sometimes it is just one team that they played as that number.

	I stopped this quiz and gave it a 1 when I saw that Kobe wasn't there for 8 or 24... Mays, ok, tough to argue against, though I'd still give Kobe at least a tie. But Ripken? REALLY? I know Kobe isn't 8 anymore, but he is, far and away the best athlete to have ever touched the number 8. No disrespect to Ripken, but... Kobe Bryant.

	i just don't understand how the greatest football player of all time Jim Brown could not be on this list. Majic Johnson is a legend but Jim Brown was in a league of his own back then.
