what an idiotic and useless list. did they do it after the 2003 season? i bet mark prior was top 15. i bet kerry wood was up there. no one has any idea what's going to happen, and not just to pitchers. hitters fall off the face of the earth, or get hurt.

I'd take Robinson Cano or Joey Votto ahead of half of these guys.

Wow PWT3, just wow. And I agree Cano seems a big omission, but Joey Votto is at #22, so he is ahead of half these guys :P

All you complainers are morons. This is an objective measure - projected WAR. Nobody picked them, the list was compiled using a formula based on previous trajectories. I mean, feel free to marvel at some of the omissions, but to criticize the list or the creator is pretty ignorant.

bdogrox2, come on. i am a huge yankees fan, but there is no hiding the fact that jeter will not be at his best 5 years from now. he may still be playing, but i highly doubt he will be better than anyone on this list

I agree that this is based on projected WAR, but I'm really surprised at some of the names I see there. Seth Smith??????

This is probably based on preseason or some point during the season and there wasn't much to go on with Strasburg. He'll definitely be up there soon. Uh, yes WAR is used on pitchers. I'm not exactly sure where you got that idea. It's not as useful for them but it's certainly used.

What about Ubaldo Jimenez? The list was made on June 1st of this year so there is no excuse for missing some of the guys that have been mentioned.

Desmond Jennings? The guy was an 18th round pick, not even rated in the top 50 prospects in MLB, and is currently riding a slash line of .258/0/11 at Durham so far.

PWT3 couldn't agree more... stats like WAR and VORP are completely ridiculous.....in 5 years about this list isn't even close to accurate.

@xpowerout: Desmond Jennings was actually ranked #6 overall among prospects before 2010 by Baseball America and universally considered top 10, so that's not so accurate. His inclusion does shock me though, if only because he's the only prospect on here. How did he make the cut when Strasburg or Stanton didn't? I'm also shocked that Ubaldo, Cano, and Youkilis (a WAR darling) didn't make the cut since it was only compiled a week ago.

I know you didn't make the list but it is awful...Robbie Cano?? Michael Stanton?? Grady Sizemore can't even get on the field anymore, he shouldn't be on there. Same with Weeks and Iannetta

@bronxbombers2, the fact that you made that comment is a disgrace, BOTH should be on it. Not saying Pedroia is comparable to Cano just shows the ignorant Yankees fan you are.
