Seriously Indiana? Just when I thought your state couldn't get more boring...

Please accept just "cider" - it's usually made from apples!

You're lucky, MSUKent. A friend of mine describes Moxie as making your mouth taste like the place spiders go to die, and he's pretty much right. It's a kind of soda, flavored from something extremely unlikely. (Also, fun fact: the word "moxie" comes from the drink, and not vice versa.)

MSUkent: I've never tried Moxie, but it's infamous in New England. I've heard that it tastes like motor oil. I don't think I will test it out for myself.

An Alabaman, a South Carolinian, and an Indian all walk into a bar. They go to the bartender, who asks what they would each like to drink. "I'll have some Conecuh Ridge Alabama Fine Whiskey" said the Alabaman; "I'll have some milk and South Carolina-grown tea" said the South Carolinian; "I'll have some... um... water." said the Indianian nonchalantly. Everybody looked at the Indianian, with puzzled looks on their faces.

I'm surprised that Kentucky's wasn't Bourbon. As a Louisianian, I'm also surprised that ours isn't Anything With Alcohol.

Wow. Well, this is the only time I've been happy to see Alabama assert its individuality. The rest of the states need to look at this list and get a little more creative. (Except for Nebraska, which must have seen the list and tried to have it both ways.)

No beer? Anywhere? Sounds like some states aren't really being honest with themselves.

druhutch, agreed. My home state of Tennessee needs to just go ahead and change ours to Old No. 7.

Kool-Aid? Nebraska got some points for creativity but not a good state representation.

Moxie was created around 1876 and marketed like most sodas as a medicinal elixer. It enjoyed great popularity in the early 1900's and was said to be favored by President Calvin Coolidge. It was so popular that it once outsold Coca-Cola. however Popularity started to decline in the 1930's. On a more personal level, I am from Maine and one of my Social Studies in high school loved this stuff so much that he usually had a bottle with him everyday when he came to school.

Kool-Aid was invented in Hastings, Nebraska. That's why it's the state drink.

Whoa. What's with everyone's milk obsession? I was convinced NY would be coffee or apple juice.
