Nice quiz, but... aren't willy willies actually a bit different from tropical cyclones, which is what hurricanes are? Willy willies are more like dust devils or whirlwinds, aren't they? Australia, I think, refers to hurricanes as tropical cyclones. For example, the Australian Bureau of Meteorology issues Tropical Cyclone Advices, rather than say, Willy Willy Warnings. Australia also names tropical cyclones, but as far as I know doesn't name willy willies, which are very much smaller in scale, much less destructive, and often don't involve any precipitation at all.
Isn't the Southern Ocean much larger than the South China Sea? If you don't recognize the Southern Ocean then isn't the Philippine Sea the largest sea in the world, larger than the South China Sea? |
