| Barrett was gone by the time Gilmour joined the band. Barrett was definitely a major influence on the band, but as much as Piper at the Gates of Dawn, you can hardly consider him the most influential band member. He was long gone by the time of what many consider classic Floyd, ie Dark Side, Wish You Were Here, and the Wall. While his descent into madness inspired many of the ideas on these albums, he had nothing to do with the actual music making process.
A time period is not a bad idea. Or even fixing on a specific album. For instance, the Beach Boys had several more members associated with the band, including Blondie Chaplin who was a big influence on their later period stuff. You can hardly include Brian Jones on the Stones without mentioning Mick Taylor and Ronnie Wood, who arguably are more associated with the band than Brian. Also, besides Fleetwood and McEvie, the Mac had several completely different lineups until Buckingham and Nicks joined the band. Peter Green wouldn't be a bad candidate for a bonus answer.
Also, I'm not sure if it was just me but I had to type in Zack De La Rocha's full name, when typing in Wilson gave me 3/6 of the Beach Boys. Maybe you should have to type in Brian, Carl, and Dennis ' first and last names.
Other than that, and the spelling errors, great idea for a quiz. |
