| This quiz is way too Eurocentric (and America-centric), basically it focuses too much on Western Civilization. And before anyone comes and argues that Western Civilization is the all important, don't forget that Islamic, Chinese, Hindu, Native American, Persian and African civilizations all still have great importance that this list completely overlooks. Not a single African or Native American, just one Indian (the ever famous Gandhi, as if he was the only great Indian ever), and barely any Chinese or Muslims. How are Bach or Tolstoy more important than the Moghul rulers!? Personally I even think Nelson Mandela deserves a spot here. Who are Wollstonecraft or van Rijn!!?? I mean, compared to any prominent Third World political leader. And even if we're discussing Westerners, shouldn't Vasco da Gama be up there, if Magellan makes it? And Vasco actually got to India, unlike the bumbling Columbus (who is important nonetheless, I'm not taking that away from him. Probably the third most important mistake in history, after the first cavemen rubbing stones, and the first cavemen and cavewomen rubbing.) |
