Fond as I am of Manfred Mann's Earth Band, I think "Love is like _____. You get too much you get too high. Not enough and you're gonna die" by Sweet might proven better known.
Feb 19th, 2013 at 17:44 GMT
@rockgolf : I tried (and failed in one instance) to avoid songs with the element in the title as well as in the lyrics. Sweet's song was definitely a bigger hit and might just garner more correct answers. At 100 Plays so far "For You" has 6 "least guessed answers" beneath it. "For You" is a excellent example of Bruce Springsteen's early writing ability. I am extremely fond of Manfred Mann's Earth Band's cover that did so poorly on the record charts. I would hate to replace it with Sweet's song. However, if it were closer to the bottom of the quiz results chart, I would do it. And while I'm at it, thanks for the pick :)

I would have assumed that at some point the Red Hot Chili Peppers have done a song about Californium.
Feb 20th, 2013 at 01:32 GMT
NO!!! Leave "For You" in here!! One of my favorite songs and Manfred Mann's version is soooo much better than Bruce's!!
Feb 20th, 2013 at 08:12 GMT
@ madmax25 : "For You" is doing fine quizwise. I'm not replacing it. As I said above, "I am extremely fond" of it. I don't say that about most songs.

If we were to do Tom Leher's song, what element should we name?
Feb 21st, 2013 at 19:17 GMT
Springsteen's version is the original and the best.
Feb 22nd, 2013 at 15:43 GMT
I do love the inclusion of "For You", but.. can you please list the original artist, Springsteen, instead?
Feb 22nd, 2013 at 19:14 GMT
As a rule, I list the artist that had the biggest hit with a particular song. I did some objective research to determine if possibly Bruce Springsteen's version is currently more popular than Manfred Mann's Earth Band's cover version. I searched for "For You" at Amazon.com. Manfred Mann is #4 behind 3 other identically titled but different "For You" songs. Bruce Springsteen does not appear in the first 250 results. I went to itunes and searched once again. Manfred Mann's version was #103. Bruce's was #120. I can conclude that people are still more likely to pay for Manfred Mann's version. Personally I prefer Manfred Mann's single to Bruce's original album cut even though they do leave out a good hunk of good lyrics. However I have added Bruce to the clue. I am sure he would not mind sharing billing with a group that helped to popularize his early work.

In the answer for "aluminum" there's an extra line break separating the lyrics and the song/artist name.
Feb 23rd, 2013 at 15:01 GMT
The extra line break is intentional so that the clue section will always be 3 lines wide even when the lyric is short. I've tested out the quiz in 3 browsers, and that clue looks fine. Google Chrome actually forces a different clue to 4 lines, but you can't please everyone or every browser. What kind of device do you use to play quizzes? I have no idea how this quiz would display on an ipad or iphone or any display smaller than my own laptop screen. I try to design my quizzes to display in a non-jumpy way and add an html line break here and there.

Cool quiz - ran out of time with a few left to go. I was expecting "Love is Like Oxygen" by Sweet.

What Hejman said. As soon as I saw rhenium I knew Lehrer would be a clue...

It is actually impossible to drive slow when Manfred Mann's Earth Band -- "I Came for You" is on the radio. Man-O-man!! That song rocks!

points deducted for including anything justin bieber.
Mar 15th, 2013 at 18:44 GMT
@heywalt: Then I'm sure you'll provide an adequate substitute where the lyrics reference the element in that clue.
Mar 15th, 2013 at 19:41 GMT
Five bulbs just for including I Don't Like Mondays. It's such an underrated song.
Mar 15th, 2013 at 20:48 GMT
I saw "rhenium" in the list and thought, "What the heck song has a reference to rhenium in it?" Then I saw the lyrics and giggled.

Okay, so arsenic is bad, but I don't think oxygen sauce would taste all that great either.
Mar 16th, 2013 at 00:34 GMT
Unfortunately, Billy Joel is losing in this quiz. :( Classic song though.
Mar 16th, 2013 at 00:59 GMT
Nirvana's "Lithium" unfortunately never mentions lithium in the lyrics.
Mar 16th, 2013 at 01:09 GMT
Haha from the start I had already planned to comment "should have included the Tom Lehrer song just for kicks"... but sure enough I thought to soon.
Mar 16th, 2013 at 09:19 GMT
Blackalicious could do a song with all those words. He almost did anyway.
Mar 16th, 2013 at 20:31 GMT
I know a song called "Floating With You" from Fairly OddParents Here's a lyric: Even though he's a moron, with a brain made of boron, I don't remember the rest.
