| Why do people always have to pretend to be ashamed that they know things (or, worse, proud that they don't know things)? I consider myself a pretty book-smart person, but I also know more about pop culture than anyone I know. I don't feel the least bit "guilty" about this.
Not that anyone here brought up the term "guilty pleasure", but I absolutely hate it. It implies that, if people weren't engaged in a guilty pleasure (or didn't fill their minds with "useless" trivia like celebrity couples), they would be reading the classics, listening to Mozart, or curing cancer.
I make no apologies for watching what I watch or knowing what I know, no matter how "trivial" it may be. My New Year's rant is over now - nothing personal :). |
