	I've always considered the "two nations divided by a common language" quote as mostly a joke. This quiz taught me otherwise. Half the British terms seemed reasonably easy, but after that I was down to process of elimination or just guessing. I'll bet lots of people on both sides of the Atlantic had a similar experience.

	While I grew up calling them traffic circles (Pennsylvania) they are called roundabouts in my current state (Maryland). Made that one easy.

	I think a lot of places call them "roundabouts"... that's what they're called in both Massachusetts and Minnesota, at least. Some of these were really tough. Good quiz.

	We still call a telephone a telephone; saying blower would just be asking for inappropriate comments. ;)

	@dracomalfoy: You want inappropriate comments? My family are American, and my father went to Scotland on business once. A guy came up to him in a bar and asked, "Do you want to blow a fag?" Around here, you'd only get asked that in a gay bar, and not a particularly classy one either. When he saw the look on Dad's face, the guy was able to rephrase it as "Would you like to smoke a cigarette?" but Dad said it sounded like he was trying to speak a foreign language. On the other hand, there's a fairly popular song here (South Carolina) whose chorus talks about "shagging [a type of dance] on the boulevard", so I suppose the inappropriateness goes both ways.

	a lot of these british ones are slang words and are rarely used. and if you were to come here and say 'blower' you should expect fits of giggles from schoolchildren and disapproving looks from the elderly

	A lot of these are matching British slang to a term that is acceptable in both US and UK English. e.g., brolly is simply a short word for umbrella, which is a term we also use. A lot of the "British" slang is now archaic (I haven't heard the word "blower" outside old television shows). Also, Subway is an acceptable term at least in Scotland for an underground railway (we've got one in Glasgow), Underground is only really a London term, and snog is not necessarily the same as kiss.
