	Does anyone else find it interesting that the top 17 all voted for Obama for president in 2008? And the 18th state, Nebraska, split its electoral votes with one going to Obama. It seems there is a direct correlation between liberalism and good test scores.

	The results of this study, while interesting, is a bit flawed. The first state on this list where the ACT is more prominent than the SAT is Minnesota. With the other states the people who took the ACT are likely to pass because they took it, most likely, in addition to the SAT. Since most students in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, etc have the ACT as prominent more people are likely to fail, dragging down the average and making this quiz unrepresentative of the main base of the ACT exam. This quiz may be 100% correct, but it is also deceiving in what it means.

	Couldn't agree more Glorfino. Thats what I included the % Graduating Students Tested. This should give the user enough information to arrive at the same conclusion you did.

	It's really not a coincidence that all the Smartest, Best States to Live, and all the "positive" quizzes are mostly Northern states, and the Worst State to live, highest crime rate, highest murder rate, and all the "negative" quizzes are mostly Southern states. We have a serious problem down there, Idk how we're going to fix it, but it's bringing out country to the ground.

	@Glorfino, You are right in your conclusion, for the wrong reason. There is no flaw in the results, but there is a flaw in trying to draw a comparison between New England and the Midwest based on ACT prominence. However, a state won't have its average ACT score dragged down just because it is an ACT prominent state. Prominence, like Minnesota's 68%, indicates that it is a good representation of the test taking population - more people means more scores both above and below the average. The comparison problem arises because in New England states, like Connecticut, ACT takers are predominantly going to be the more driven and interested students as they are doing everything they can to increase their competitiveness, as they are taking a step beyond what is really required (the SAT, for this region).

	Clint, that represents correlation but not causation. However, I think even the causation part is accurate. You see liberalism leads to a higher cost of living, hitting the middle class with higher housing costs and energy costs, and car costs, thus driving the poorer people out of state. It is this lack of poorer, lower scoring people that leads to the higher scores. That and the legacy of slavery on the South, where they had to restrict their colleges to keep slaves from being too educated to escape.

	I don't know about other midwestern states, but here in Illinois the ACT is our benchmark test for NCLB (The idea, I think, is that it's one less test to prepare students for, since many would take the ACT anyway.) What this means is that the test is being taken by all high school students, whether or not they have any intention of applying to college.

	The ACT is also required to be taken almost every high school student in most Southern states. This means that even students with no intention of going to college take the ACT in the South.

	@Rooster: That was the point I was trying to get through, thank you for further defining it. Having lived in an SAT state, but moving into an ACT state, I have found it interesting (albeit this is not a scientific study) that it seems people in SAT states are more likely to take the ACT than people in ACT states taking the SAT. I don't know this for a fact, I have no study to prove it, but I'd be curious to see this quiz's twin: Top 20 States- SAT. Does it exist?

	Wow you can basically just go from West to East along the top half of the map. Sad.
