	After doing this quiz, I really wonder whether the IMDb voters are being exposed to enough classic cinema. I mean, are "The Social Network," "How to Train Your Dragon" and "WALL-E" really so much better than "The Sound of Music" and "The African Queen"?

	It's amazing to see a movie like "Kick-Ass" be in the top 250 movies of all time (according to IMDB) but "E.T. The Extra Terrestrial" did not make the cut... something is wrong here

	1994 was ridiculous. the current #1 movie on imdb (shawshank redemption) didn't even win best picture - lost to forrest gump. oh and pulp fiction was pretty good too.

	Not even going to try. I have no idea what exact year anything over 20 or so years old came out and I'd rather not madly type in the same movies over and over just because I'm off by two or three years. Love the idea, just think it needs a better implementation, although I understand you don't want it to be a sheer "name the top movies" quiz.

	I have to agree with senob. You dont want "name a bunch of good movies". But at the same time, when a list like this doesnt include Rain Man or ET (among various other major omissions) the format makes the quiz rather tedious, and quite frankly, not much fun.

	"Crash" and "Million Dollar Baby" couldn't both have been 2004 films, because they won Best Picture Oscars in successive years.

	you can clearly tell that the majority of people that go on to vote for the Top 250 Movies of All Time on IMDB dont know one thing about what a good movie actually is. you can also clearly tell that they grew up in the '90s and '00s. How else would it be possible that nearly half of the movies on the list are within that 20 year period, yet that Golden Age of Film ('20s-'50s) account for less than 70 of those movies? I am a child of '90s and '00s, but I have no problem admitting that there are very few, if any, films over the past 20 years that I consider within the top 250 of all time. Hell, I doubt that I would even consider them for the top 500.

	I don't know why people are voting down Jethro's comment above, where he explains why Crash is listed for 2004. The quiz is specifically about the IMDB, so I think the appropriate thing to do is use the years that IMDB uses. And IMDB lists Crash as a 2004 film.

	thank goodness for copy and paste...but I don't get the topic 'imdb top 250 movies by year'. There were 3 or 5 or 2...Can someone explain which movies they were looking for? Why not just ask for one of the top 5 each year?

	just like some other people have already said, it's frustrating that you have to type in movies for the exact year. It's just way to hard to remember the exact year of something that came out in the 70's, and I don't want to type in A Clockwork Orange 7 times before I finally get it. Then just decrease the time a few minutes to counter too much random guessing. It's also surprising how many Academy Award Best Picture winners aren't on the list, and sometimes not even any nominees in a given year made the list. Pretty weak IMDB.

	Don't understand why people are criticizing this quiz for themselves not knowing what year a film came out. Hint: If the movie you typed in for a given year didn't work, TRY ANOTHER FILM and stop complaining. I thought this quiz was fun and very well done.

	What year a movie came out is just as valid and relevant of trivia about the film as its director or lead actor. This being a TRIVIA website, I do not see what there is to gain by complaining about the difficulty of the game. I'm sorry if a hard game makes somebody enjoy it less, but that does not mean it is a bad or faulty game.

	no Jethro, defend the game by all means but don't think that it is everyone else that is wrong about it. That's just a badly thought out quiz. There's too many variables with the year and the IMDB list is hardly common trivia knowledge. Then the actual time it would take to type all these out even if you got them all right, first time - which is absolutely impossible - makes it just not fun. starkiller is right - have a point there, starkiller.

	I thought the idea for the quiz was good, but I did not take it because I knew it would be extremely tedious. Who knows what the exact IMDB list is? I don't offhand. I have an idea. Then to have to guess the correct year on top of that. Too much.

	Methinks it's time for IMDB to revisit its rating formula. Call me crazy, but I'm having a hard time believing that almost 40% of the greatest movies of all time were released in the past 15 years.
