The 6-membered carbon ring with alternating single and double bonds is also called benzene or aromatic.

Seriously, 10 minutes? Maybe 2 at most. You could add peroxides, peracid, hydroxylamines, (hemi)acetals, thiols, thioesters, thioethers, imines, azo, oximes, nitros... and maybe put in diagrams of the functional groups!

@koko: no, the generic functional group name is indeed 'arene'. Lots of molecules can be described as aromatic, not all are 6 carbons. The most obvious example being the cyclopentadiene anion (a very common ligand in transition metal chemistry). Benzene refers strictly to the molecule C6H6. Might want to add 'olefin' as an alternative to 'alkene', and 'alkyl halide' or 'haloalkane' is a better answer than simply 'halide'. That said, this is one of the better organic chemistry quizzes on Sporcle!

You need to accept alkyl halide for "halide." I also tried almost everything I could think of short of arene for the aromatic one. Phenyl, benzene, benzyl, aryl, aromatic, etc. They're all small variations on a generic description. I think they should be accepted. Especially if you are asking for a functional GROUP, you could certainly call it an "aryl group," which you currently do not accept. Similarly with "cyano" for the CN triple bond. If you're asking for the group, the group can certainly be called a cyano group. Also, far too much time.

Ten minutes is way too long, and your functional group acceptance is far too narrow. Really? Benzene, phenyl, aromatic ring, cyclohexatriene? None of those are acceptable for "arene". Same with alkyl halide, alkyl bromide, alkyl chloride...all of those I tried and none were accepted.
