| Damo: Because of inconsistencies and rules with the early baseball MVP awards, I've only started from 1931, which was the first year of the Baseball Writers Association voting that exists to this day. Thus, Ty Cobb's Chalmers Award (given only from 1911-1914) was not counted. After that, the league awards were given starting in 1922, but not in the National League until 1924. The last of those AL awards, which didn't allow for repeat winners, was given in 1928 and the last for the NL in 1929. (Read more about this here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLB_Most_Valuable_Player_award) Nonetheless, I think I'll add a note that the MVP awards we're talking about are the *modern* awards, to allow for clarity and greater consistency. Thanks for the note! |
