	Burbled is a real word, meaning a sound like running water,"burbling brook"...burbling baby...goes back to Old French, so isn't a Lewis Carroll word which made its way into the mainstream...I'm just sayin'

	My freshman high school English teacher always said that it was worthwhile for everyone to memorize at least one famous work of poetry. I never saw the need for it until today. Thanks, Mr. Lerch. :-)

	61/62 but I had thought the line was "...The Jabberwock, with eyes aflame..." rather than "...eyes of flame..." I got "flame" but not "of." Oh well. I do love this poem!

	Technically, it's "hast," not has. I still enjoyed the quiz as this is one of my favorite poems. This just made my crappy day better.

	Nice idea for a quiz but there's at least two mistakes. As evil fruit girl notes the poem does use "hast". Also, it's not "doubtful" that Carrol was using "burbled" in its real context since the word means "to make a bubbling sound." I always imagined the Jabberwocky to be making a bubbling sound as it roared along.

	This was fabulous! I love "Jabberwocky". I guessed "whiffling" was the word I was missing. Who knew?

	The whole point is whether the words were actual, recognized words when Lewis Carroll first published the poem. A fairly large number of the words Carroll invented just for this poem ended up as words in the general English language vocabulary as a result. If you know the poem by heart, it's not that hard to get a perfect score, actually.

	Todd1952sf. Merriam Webster has "burbling" as from the 14th century. That's considerably before Rev Dodgson wrote his poem

	see the issue is that the only bit i can ever remember is the nonsensical bit at the beginning which i can recite from heart. Then i am totally stumped until calloo callay what wondrous day as he went callumphing by. I mean thats not very helpful for this!

	and I agree with the comments on burbling, it dates back way before Jabberwocky.
